What matters more Quality or Quantity?
If you are a confused beginner writer like me then here’s your savior, my friend. I am going to pave your way and help you get rid of the chaos in your head about which is better to follow quality or quantity. Okay first off no offense to the opinion of other writers; but, from my perspective after reading 35 blogs and going through many inspirational videos related to quality vs quantity :
I came to realize that
Both quality and quantity matter equally neither one can stand alone. Quality and quantity go hand in hand to give excellent output. Because If you write every day it’s great, but if you write without putting in any effort will it do you any good you will remain at the same point forever. Many writers like me beginners don’t understand that writing every day does not mean you need to just start writing, it means to pour in an effort trying to go through as many books, blogs, and information as you can. A writer isn’t someone who just can write because then everyone is somewhat a writer. A writer is someone who is knowledgeable and influences people through authentic and genuine Information or perspective which is effective, and helpful for the readers or your audience. This should be your motive from the very first time when you start to write when you recognize this that’s where you have laid the base of becoming a writer and a successful writer. So if you just write without a tough grind then you might remain at the same spot forever. Yes, starting writing is a very big step in your writing journey but it’s just the first step so don’t remain at that first step forever. just writing might improve your writing or typing speed but won’t improve what you have written. Using eloquent and amazing vocabulary Identifies that you are a writer someone of a high standard who understands literature and You can recognize their effort through it when you read Stephen King, Claude Bristol, J. K. Rowling, William Shakespeare, or Paulo Coelho you will acknowledge that their complicated vocabulary and complicated deep perspectives and plots give a deep sense of satisfaction and understanding that this is what a writer is he isn’t a slang language user but knows the eloquence of language and how to create an amazing atmosphere for the writer.
Okay so now first comes quantity write every day but work on the betterment of quality as well you can do that in 3 ways
- Read blogs as many as you can take notes and go through them. Not to note the tactics of how they became famous but what it takes to become this amazing.
- go through deep quotes and try to understand try to feel the emotions of the writer. A writer is a person who is a vast & broad imagination creator and an envisioner an artist who senses emotions and creates stories through them, about them.
- Read books of Amazing and extraordinary writers first read about their journey to become a writer, to get a sense of what it takes to reach there, and then read their books to realize their poured essence.
With every single writing and every single written paper, there should be an improvement of at least 1%. As a writer, you should have 100 blogs written, and by the 100th blog, there should be a 100% improvement in your writing skills. Writing is a unique and delicate discipline that requires a lot of effort and practice and everyday improvement so quotes such as
“People who aren’t used to quality chase quantity”
— (Unknown)
Or
“Quality is more important than quantity one home run is better than two doubles”
— Steve jobs
Though these quotes are said by amazing people they aren’t fit in for this subject. Because quantity for writers is a consistent effort many ripped papers and incomplete drafts that turn us into Stephen King or Jk. Rowling.
“Excellence comes when we balance quality with quantity.”
